Dreamscapes is a series of artworks that transforms four poems (Sunday Drive, Window View, Coastal Night Visions, Earthlings) into watercolour paintings, exploring the specific stages of dreaming within each poem; beginning with the familiar, journey into new territory, exploring the strange, the unknown, and coming back down to earth before the dream ends. The artist, Maria Bond, and the poet,  Gabrielle, share a personal real-world connection that Maria succeeds in paying homage to through the careful use of colour and key emotional connections by physically placing herself within each piece.

The importance of artists paying respect to their inspirations is a key theme reflected in this series; the paintings do not stand alone apart from their origins, but rather beside them. This helps to accomplish showcasing the significance of the poems in relation to their accompanying paintings while allowing the series of paintings to shine and take on their own distinctive form.
