What is hidden behind the door? It might open to a familiar home, maybe it leads to an unknown road, or just in a simple white room. A door can open or close space. For me, this old door represents a door to my past memories in the city of Hangzhou where I grew up. It stands in my mind, safely guarding my memories, my experiences and what I call home.

For me, the future is like a check game. Every step requires reflection, planning and careful decision making. But it is always a game filled with surprises and unexpected outcomes. Combined together, these two artworks represent my reflection of the notion of time, considering the past and the future. They symbolically express my feelings in regards to my own personal experience of moving from China 7 years ago to pursue my studies here in Canada.
